    Experimental methods, with emphasis on laboratory tests, to determine engineering soil properties and investigate soil behavior; 1) classification tests (i.e., used to identify soil classification and identify general engineering behavior type); and 2) assessment of engineering properties, such as permeability, shear strength, stiffness, and compressibility. Primary lab tests to be covered in this course are: consolidation, direct shear, static tri-axial, cyclic tri-axial, cyclic simple shear, resonant column, and other advanced geotechnical laboratory tests.
