The design and implementation of cloud storage and big data systems and the architecture and characteristics of components on which cloud storage systems are built. Topics include: storage device hardware, file systems, mirroring and RAID, array coding techniques, storage area networks (SAN), network-attached storage (NAS), cloud storage and big data, DB in clouds, relational storage models, key value stores and other No-SQL mechanisms, data consistency and availability in the cloud, cloud data privacy and security.
Prerequisite(s): CCI graduate standing or permission of department.
