POLS 4382 - Intelligence Cycle

The intelligence cycle is an important example of how different actors (political leaders, government organizations, et al.) engage in bargaining to determine what types of questions they need answered and what types of information they need to make effective decisions, how they decide what information is relevant and irrelevant for their decisions, and how the degree to which policy or political preferences influence the interpretation of information and evidence. The intelligence cycle is at the center of bureaucratic interaction over the shaping of public policy priorities and actions regarding national security.
