BINF 8382 - Accelerated Bioinformatics Programming
Credit Hours: (3)
Computationally intensive algorithms in bioinformatics with an emphasis placed on the implementation of bioinformatics algorithms in the context of parallel processing using modern hardware processor accelerators such as GPUs and FPGAs. Topics covered depend on instructor expertise and student interest but may include multi-threaded applications and developing for multi-core processors and for large clusters and other “cloud” computers. Students are expected to complete a significant independent project. Course grade includes performance in BINF 8382L .
Prerequisite(s): BINF 8112 or equivalent, or permission of instructor.
Corequisite(s): BINF 8382L .
