ANTH 3157 - South American Prehistory Archaeology of the indigenous cultures in South America from the earliest settlement until the arrival of the Spanish, including Moche, Nasca, and Inca; focus on the Central Andean region including Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Ecuador; examination of the origins of agriculture, interactions of people and the environment, rise and collapse of states and empires, and the role of religion and warfare in ancient societies.
