Graduate Catalog | 2016-2017 Previous Edition

Catalog FAQs

What is the Catalog?

The catalog is the authoritative source for academic programs and courses at UNC Charlotte.  Students should regularly consult the requirements for their degree in the catalog.  The catalog also contains academic policies, admission procedures, and other pertinent information about the University.

Can I have a catalog sent to my home?

UNC Charlotte does not offer printed versions of our catalogs; however, they are provided online in a complete downloadable PDF format for saving, viewing, or printing at home.  Visit the Catalog PDFs for these or see the DOWNLOAD PDF CATALOG link near the bottom of the lefthand vertical menu.  Additionally, all of the information within the catalogs are viewable by either computer or mobile device at http://catalog.uncc.edu

What do I need to be admitted to UNC Charlotte?

Admission requirements may be found under The Graduate School.  Additional details may be found on the Graduate Admissions website.

How do I apply to UNC Charlotte?

Visit the Graduate Admissions website and click APPLY NOW.   If you've already applied and are waiting for more information, visit the My Graduate School Portal.

How much does it cost to attend UNC Charlotte?

Tuition and fees vary and may be found on the Financial Services website.

What graduate programs does UNC Charlotte offer?

The graduate degree programs offered by UNC Charlotte are listed under Academic Programs .  These may be sorted alphabetically by subject; by college; by department; or by degree level.

Which catalog should I be looking at?

For academic program requirements, students should use the catalog that was current during the first semester they started at UNC Charlotte.  The requirements specified in each catalog apply to students who commence their studies at UNC Charlotte during the academic year listed on the catalog and who remain in continuous enrollment at the institution until they graduate.   For example, if your first semester was Fall 2014, you would refer to the 2014-2015 Graduate Catalog for your degree requirements.  For University policies, all students should refer to the most current catalog.  PDF versions of current and previous catalogs are found in the Catalog PDFs.

Students who are readmitted to UNC Charlotte or change degree programs should use the most current catalog, not the catalog in effect when they were previously admitted.  Students who change their degree program are bound by the requirements of their new program that are in effect the semester they officially begin studies in the new program.

If academic program requirements are changed, students may elect to comply with the new requirements or to remain under the requirements by which they are governed at the time of the change.  The choice to apply the new requirements must be declared by students at least one semester prior to graduation through their academic departments.

STUDENTS UNSURE OF WHICH CATALOG TO USE SHOULD CONSULT WITH THEIR ADVISOR.

How can I bookmark several pages in the catalog to refer to later?

Our MY FAVORITES feature is made just for that.  Current students, prospective students, parents, and or anyone else can create their own account and save favorite pages within the catalog to easily refer to later in one place.  The link for MY FAVORITES may be found at the bottom of the lefthand vertical menu.  A My Favorites User Guide  is also available.

What do the icons throughout the catalog mean?

See our Catalog User Guides  for a reference to this and other helpful hints about navigating the catalogs.
