EDCI 8312 - Urban Schooling, Curriculum, and Pedagogy

At the heart of ‘Urban Schooling’ are curriculum and pedagogy. Explores the literature on successful teachers, principals, and educational reformers who have developed curriculum and/or pedagogy that have proven effective in urban schools. Critically examines current practices such as managed curriculum and teaching to the test in urban classrooms and proposes education for democracy, that is culturally relevant and emancipatory.
